From a Local Master’s Program to a National Institution
In 2016, the Kyiv School of Economics was a small Master’s program. A few dozen students. A couple of rooms. The budget barely covered the rent.
The start: 2 classrooms, 200-300 students, and a $1M budget. We bet on faculty with Western PhDs and academic integrity, which allowed us to create an international-standard educational product right here in Ukraine.
When the Rules of the Game Changed
The pandemic. The whole world went into lockdown. Most universities simply closed their doors and waited for better times.
We maintained 100% of our educational programs and transitioned to a hybrid format by September, strictly following all safety protocols.
The Result
We emerged from COVID stronger and more technologically advanced.
A Home of Our Own
In 2021, with the support of Dragon Capital, KSE acquired its own building, allowing us to increase student enrollment eightfold.
At the same time, we pivoted our strategy and launched undergraduate (Bachelor’s) programs.
We finally became a full-fledged university.
The first undergraduate cohorts exceeded expectations in terms of preparation.
We began shaping a new intellectual elite from the very first year.
KSE Today
Kyiv School of Economics is more than just a university. It is an ecosystem consisting of five independent but interconnected branches:
- KSE University and Business School: Education ranging from Bachelor’s degrees to MBAs. We train those who will lead businesses and government institutions.
- KSE Institute: An analytical think tank. We develop sanctions policy, analyze war damages, and shape economic recovery strategies for the Government and international partners.
- KSE Foundation: Supporting both the home front and the front line. We have raised $125M+ for defense, education, and humanitarian missions. This is our direct participation in the war.
- KSE ProfTech: Rapid reskilling. We train veterans and internally displaced persons for the professions needed to rebuild the country right now.
The Full-Scale Invasion
Many left. Many stopped their businesses. KSE decided to keep working.
We transformed the basement of our campus into a safe space. Since the beginning of the invasion, we have held thousands of hours of lectures and raised $125M+ for defense through the KSE Foundation.
Kyiv School of Economics has become a symbol of resilience. We scaled our impact on state policy and national defense.
Obolon and the Golf Center
Strategic expansion: acquiring the Golf Center to create a world-class campus spanning 14,500 square meters.
Our goal is to create a space where science, business, and technology intersect. Ukrainians deserve the best right here, at home.
We believe in victory, which is why we are investing in the future for decades to come.
